Cold foil printing is an exciting metallic printing technique that does not involve the use of heat or pressure. Instead, silver foil is simply transferred onto the printed adhesive. This allows a wide range of colors to be used.

Conventional hot stamping does not lend itself to gradation, since stamping is performed after fabrication of the mold or plate. Cold foil printing transfers the foil using halftone dots, and this approaches allows subtle gradations to be introduced.
Metallic processing is performed at the same time as printing, which is more efficient and results in shorter lead times.
